Grandma's Spaghetti and Meatballs
Meatball Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 diced sweet onion
- 3-4 minced garlic cloves
- palmful for chopped fresh parsley
- 1 egg
- about 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- salt, pepper and oregano to taste
- about 1/4 cup parmesan and mexican blend cheese
Directions:
Mix all ingredients with hands and form into golf ball size balls (or slightly bigger)
Bake at 350 turning once until browned (no need to fully cook as it will cook in the sauce)
Sauce Ingredients:
- 5 beefsteak tomatoes chopped
- 4-5 cloves of garlic chopped
- 1 diced sweet onion
- 28 ounce can of tomato sauce
- About 15 fresh basil leaves and parsley leaves (stems removed)
- Garlic salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon of sugar (cuts the bitterness)
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- Sweet Italian sausage
- The meatballs above.
Directions:
Lightly coat bottom of large pot with olive oil
Saute onions, tomatoes and garlic until cooked down
Add all other ingredients and mix well using an immersion blender
Simmer and add meatballs once browned
